What you should know
The H1N1 influenza is frightening to many. At Dominican Hospital, we are working to ensure that our community stays as safe as possible during the pandemic and the upcoming seasonal flu season.
In keeping with its mission to be good healthcare stewards to the community, Dominican Hospital is implementing the federal Centers for Disease Control guidelines for reducing 2009 H1N1 flu by limiting the number of people in the hospital setting. To limit exposure and possible spread of H1N1 flu to its patients, visitors and staff, Dominican Hospital’s visitor policy will prohibit visitors under age 16 as of Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. This age limit includes all patient care areas of the hospital and rehabilitation services, including the birthing center and neonatal intensive care unit. Only two visitors age 16 or over are allowed per patient at a time.

Dominican Hospital will be restricting access points to the Hospital and Dominican Rehabilitation Services and screening visitors for flu-like symptoms beginning Monday, Nov. 30.
Access to Dominican Hospital will be restricted to two entry points: the Hospital’s main entrance and one near the Outpatient Oncology Unit. Access to Dominican Rehabilitation Services will be restricted to the main entrance and pavilion entry near the rear parking lot.
Access to Dominican Hospital’s Emergency Department will remain unchanged.
Once inside either facility, all visitors will be screened for flu-like symptoms, and symptomatic visitors will be asked to return after symptoms subside. Patients entering the Hospital for outpatient treatments with flu-like symptoms will be required to wear a surgical mask.
