Lowering the Risk for Heart Disease
Reducing the risk of a heart attack can save lives. That's why Dominican Hospital's Center for Lifestyle Management provides clinical screenings, personalized evaluations and health programs to help people identify and lessen their risk of heart disease.
Modifiable risk factors that increase a person's risk for heart disease include smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, lack of adequate exercise, abnormal cholesterol/lipids, stress and obesity.
Anyone can access Dominican Center for Lifestyle Management to find options such as exercise stress testing, nutrition analysis, body composition analysis, cholesterol screening, blood pressure screening, and blood glucose screening. Clients can select "ala carte" from the assessment menu, or from one of the special assessment packages.
Unique to Dominican's programs --- personalized interpretation of each client's test results by a specialist in the field, and a coaching approach that offers support to clients in setting goals and making healthy changes.
If additional skills, motivation or information are necessary, the Center for Lifestyle Management also includes health intervention programs to help influence a number of risk factors for heart disease. Life Steps, our successful weight management program, offers a science-based approach to sustainable weight loss. The Strides walking program gets clients up and exercising without requiring gym memberships or extensive equipment. Dominican's Registered Dietitian's provide up-to-date information relevant to each client.
