Newborn Intensive Care Unit

Our NICU is designed to support and nurture not only your baby, but your entire family. We provide family-centered care in a warm and safe environment for infants who need specialized attention. We promote a soothing environment by keeping the lights dim, talking quietly and keeping babies swaddled when appropriate. You can help by making sure pagers and cell phones are turned off while in the NICU.

Visiting is permitted around-the-clock, except during shift changes, from 7 to 8 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. daily. You can help us prevent the spread of infection by washing your hands before entering the nursery, and by remaining at your baby’s side during your visit. Please refrain from wearing perfume or aftershave when visiting the nursery.

The maximum number of visitors is two at a time, per baby. At least one visitor must always be a parent of the baby (unless special arrangements have been made by the parents). As a protective measure, we ask that children be at least 8 years old and in good health to visit siblings in the NICU. No one having an infectious condition, communicable disease or exposure to chickenpox within three weeks may visit the NICU.

After 8:30 p.m. all visitors must enter through the Emergency Department and check in with the public safety officer to be escorted to the NICU.
