We take our volunteers seriously
Prospective volunteers are provided with orientation and training to enable them to make an informed decision on their volunteer service. The goal of the orientation is to help volunteers feel more comfortable and competent in their service.
Annual health and safety reviews, specialized training, as well as job evaluations are required.
All volunteers must commit to 100 hours (approximately six months) of service.
All volunteers must provide results of a current two-step tuberculosis (TB) skin test, or agree to have the test administered. You will be required to have a TB test each year for as long as you are a volunteer. In addition, there may be immunization records required before you begin.
A background report will be performed for all General and Auxiliary volunteers. Social security number verification and criminal history will be checked.
In addition, Auxiliary and General volunteers must attend a General Hospital Orientation (GHO). This four-hour orientation is held monthly, on a Monday morning. Junior volunteers will also need to attend a GHO or a separate Junior Orientation.
